Where we work

Tree Trimming across Buffalo and Western New York

We provide tree trimming throughout the Buffalo metro area and nearby Erie County communities.

How we work

Professional Pruning That Protects Tree Health

Improper cuts — flush cuts, topping, or random hacking — cause long-term damage that opens trees to disease and decay. We use industry-standard pruning techniques that respect the tree's natural growth and healing response.

Tree trimming in Buffalo NY — professional pruning and deadwood removal

Why Proper Pruning Technique Matters

Western New York's weather puts tree canopies under real stress. Heavy lake-effect snowfall loads branches past their breaking point, and the freeze-thaw cycles Buffalo experiences through late winter and early spring create conditions where weakened limbs fail without warning. Homeowners in Amherst, West Seneca, and Tonawanda know this well — a properly trimmed tree handles a WNY winter far better than an overgrown one. We work with property owners across the Buffalo region before storm season to reduce wind resistance, remove weak attachments, and set their trees up for long-term structural health.

Every cut is a wound. Done right, the tree compartmentalizes and heals. Done wrong, large wounds expose heartwood to decay, pests, and structural failure. Our crew follows ANSI A300 pruning standards — the same practices used by certified arborists — to protect the trees we work on.

When to Trim Trees in Western New York

Late winter and early spring — before bud break — is the ideal window for most tree pruning in Buffalo. The tree's energy is still stored in the roots, wounds close faster in the growing season ahead, and the dormant structure makes it easier to spot what needs to come out. Summer trimming is appropriate for fast-growing species or clearance work. We'll advise you on timing during your estimate.

  • Late winter ideal for oaks, maples, and most hardwoods
  • Summer fine for fast growers and emergency clearance
  • Avoid heavy pruning in fall when wounds close slowly
  • We advise species-specific timing for every job

Storm Damage Prevention Through Smart Pruning

Western New York storms are hard on trees. Crown thinning reduces wind resistance and lowers the risk of catastrophic failure during high-wind events and ice storms. Removing co-dominant stems, weak attachments, and deadwood before storm season is the best insurance a homeowner can buy. We work across Amherst, Cheektowaga, Tonawanda, and Buffalo to help residents reduce their storm risk every year.

Common situations

When to Schedule Tree Trimming

Many homeowners wait until a branch falls before calling. These are the situations where proactive trimming saves money and prevents damage.

  • Branches overhanging or touching your roof
  • Limbs above power lines or utility wires
  • Dense canopy blocking light to lawn or garden
  • Dead or dying branches visible in the crown
  • Tree rubbing against the house or fence
  • Preparing trees before Buffalo storm season
  • Improving curb appeal before selling a home
  • Young trees needing structural training

I have been using Roy and his crew for the last 3 years — couldn’t be happier. They are very meticulous, and just amazing. They do my tree service, landscaping, for my office, clean up, mulching everything you can think of. If you ever drive by here, you would see a red maple that was planted in removal of a pine tree. They have trimmed my lilac my maples, and all these small trees, touching my powerlines and fences. Such a neat and safe job. Any commercial properties or residential properties that needs all these similar services in West Seneca and nearby, definitely call Roy and his team will do you a wonderful job.

I have 2 large silver maples in my backyard that were hanging over 2 neighbors fences and electricity wires in need of trimming by a professional. Roy was very knowledgeable and he & his crew were nonstop workers! They carted everything away from all 3 yards. Roy was also on site and communicated prior by phone as needed. I highly recommend Buffalo Tree Soldiers if you need any tree work! I am on Forbes Avenue in Tonawanda.

June 2026 hired Buffalo Tree Soldiers to trim 5 fairly large trees in our Grand Island yard. We met with Roy and we're scheduled within a week for trimming. They were very friendly and accommodating. Also very knowledgeable about what's best for our trees. The crew completed a fairly large job in one day, including a very thorough clean up. I highly recommend Buffalo Tree Soldiers for your tree cutting and trimming needs.

Needed a desperate trimming of 2 large limbs on my maple tree. Roy had come out, assessed the problem professionally and gave us a very fair price. He did the tree and cleanup so well, and with no damages to the lawn or the sidewalk. Highly recommend, he is very fast, professional and exceptional service. One of the best, actually no, THE BEST tree service out here in Cheektowaga and Buffalo overall.
